Meet Stacey

About Me

A born and raised New Yorker, I have lived with my family in Katonah since early 2022.  I’ve worked within community and education spheres for the past 20 years, giving me breadth and depth of knowledge in both areas.

I’ve worked as a classroom teacher, a mom-and-pop business owner, and an employee of the largest private employer in New York State, giving me an entrepreneurial spirit with experience in large bureaucratic organizations.

I can be found playing “bashminton” with my husband Ron and teenagers Ben and Eliza, cleaning up after our two dogs and one cat, singing in rock cover bands, serving for 7 years as a volunteer Crisis Counselor for 988 and Crisis Text Line, and shopping local on two feet or two wheels.

I know what it means to educate our students

As a teacher in the NYC Department of Education, I was proud to be profiled by the New York Times in a column about teacher evaluations.

You would think the Department of Education would want to replicate Ms. Isaacson who has degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia and sprinkle Ms. Isaacsons all over town.

I know that this year had its moments of challenge; you always handled it with grace and presence. You are a wonderful teacher.

Principal

Definitely one of a kind. I’ve had lots of good teachers, but she stood out. I learned so much from her.

Values

When looking for a new home for our family, we were blown away by the history of Katonah. A community that literally pulled up roots and hauled itself to new ground by teams of horses, all just so that they could stay together? This is our dream of a strong and committed community. Couple that with a school district strong in ideals, enrichment, rigor, and opportunity, and we knew we found our home. I’d love the honor of serving on the KLSD Board to be part of what drew my family here.

So what does that say about what I value?

At the core of community is unity. I seek to connect people.

Community is about belonging and safety for all. We must always work to bring marginalized groups in; as the saying goes, if there aren’t enough seats at the table, we need to build a bigger table.

Education enables opportunities. Learning that offers multiple perspectives and provides equity in access broadens minds.

School is more than academics. Social-emotional learning and mental health education are at least as important to content measured on exams.
